Witcher 3 Crashes

Use the following troubleshooting steps to get rid of constant crashes with Witcher 3 game:

Turn Off Shadow Play Feature

This feature is activated by default. Disable both Shadow Play feature and GeForce Experience altogether using the Manage 3D Settings section of the NVIDIA Control Panel.

Exit GeForce Experience

You’ve to restore default settings. In order to turn off GeForce Experience, use its system tray icon to exit it.

Prevent Antivirus Conflicts

Add the Witcher 3 executable file to the Trusted Applications or Excluded Applications list to prevent internal conflicts. Choose to exclude this file:

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Games\The Withcer 3 Wild Hunt\Bin\x64\

Restore Default NVIDIA Settings

It happens that unsupported features are enabled in NVIDIA Control Panel. Just open the application, and set default settings from the Manage 3D Settings section.

Disable GPU Monitoring App

If you’re using a GPU monitoring application while playing Witcher 3 simultaneously, disable that. Some users reported conflicts with applications such as  MSI Afterburner, EVGA PrecisionX, and other GPU monitoring apps.

Stop Background Apps

Too many background applications can also be responsible for this issue. Boot your PC with minimum number of startups. Use the Task Manager > More details > Startup tab, to control the items.

Change Movie Frame Rate

Go to the following folder and change “MovieFramerate=60” using Notepad application. (Using Run with Windows Key + R keys). Besides, change the “ubersampling=false”. The file path is given below:

  • C:\Program FilesWild Hunt\Bin\Config\Base\Visuals.ini

Use a Game Booster

Get a game boosting software to make use of its service optimizing capabilities. If you face frequent lags and game crashing, this feature would be useful to you. This way your system will run with minimum services reducing the computing load considerably.

Fix Registry Errors

Use an efficient registry scanning and defragging program which will scan for corrupted registry entries. You can remove registry errors to prevent crashing with the Witcher 3 in Windows (10, 8, 7/Vista).
