If you’re playing Sims 4 in Windows 10 and faced too much crashing, follow these steps to do away with the crashes as well as lags for good.
Make sure your system has adequate hardware to run Sims 4. Intel Core 2 Duo processor/ Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core processor; a graphics card (NVIDIA GeForce/ AMD Radeon), 2 GB of RAM, Microsoft DirectX 9 that supports your graphics card, and at least 10 GB of free space.
Go to the Documents folder in the User’s library. There you find a file named [Saves]. You can find this file in the ..\Electronic Arts\Sims 4 location. Rename that file with some different name, and then re-create a new file with the original name.
Load the game with the [save] that crashes. Pause the game in middle by pressing Escape (Esc). You shall see a Menu. Select the options named Manage Worlds | Manage Households (basically it’s a family icon with a pencil) | Unplayed Households | Not in this world. Remove each and every household item, especially the unfamiliar ones.
Go to the Game Options page using three dots (…) in the top right corner of your screen, and then disable Post Processing Effects feature from the Graphics tab.
From the same Graphics tab, set medium settings and save the changes.
In the same Graphics tab there is a check box for Laptop Mode feature. Make sure it is checked.
Disable Uncompressed Sims Texture from the game options.
Using Display Settings from the Desktop’s context menu, set a supporting screen resolution from Display > Advanced display settings.
Go offline from the Origin Menu after opening the Origin Client, and then connect to the Origin servers once again (normal mode).
Right click its Desktop shortcut and choose to run it with administrative privileges.
If you’ve specified the age below 14, perhaps your account is setup with restricted online gaming features, called as, Child Account. You need an account with full access permissions.
If you’re running Sims 4 in fullscreen mode, restart it with windowed mode by adding “-w” at the end of the Target file path text. Do not remove/ alter existing path from the Shortcut tab.
Using the files named vcredist_x64.exe and vcredist_x86.exe in the Redist sub folder of the Sims 4 installation path, reinstall Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable package. Alternatively, you may download the same online if you do not wish to execute specified files stored in C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin\The Sims 4\_Installer\VC\VC2013 installation location. Remember, the actual path may vary.
